Our October 2017 employee of the month is our culinary leader and Kitchen Manager, Chef Manuel Soria. It’s quite appropriate that he is our current choice for this honor, as he’s celebrating his 20 anniversary with us. He began in the kitchen as our Sous Chef, and over time became known throughout the company as our expert in food production on event day. In 2009 Manuel was promoted to kitchen Manager and leader of our entire culinary team. Today he’s directly responsible for much of the success at Summit. We are very proud to have him as our leader in the kitchen, and I know everyone will echo these sentiments.

Manuel is married to Carolina, and has five wonderful children, Saul, Maya, Yarely, Bryan and Emely. When Manuel is not working he loves to read. When we asked him what type of books he likes to read he quickly stated, “I enjoy reading books on family, especially books that teach me how to be a better dad and husband”. Always passionate about improving his craft, he enjoys reading books on food and food presentation.

When asked what he shares with new staff coming on board in the kitchen he says, “Be passionate about the food…… period. And right behind that is, be respectful to one another, and treat each other with dignity”. Those are welcome words to live by, and we wholeheartedly agree. Manuel told us what he loves most about working at Summit is the family atmosphere. He shares openly that Summit is his second family. We are so grateful and thankful for Manuel and for the gifts and abilities he brings to Summit to share with all of us. Congratulations Manuel and keep up the great work.
